RoboGabbai Instructions:

In an attempt to improve our daily prayer service attendance, you are cordially invited to sign up with our Beth Jacob Congregation "ROBOGABBAI." ROBOGABBAI is a web-based system used to help coordinate Minyan attendance. It will allow you to tell us through the internet which days and which services you will be able to attend, and it will send you e-mail reminders if requested.

There are 2 daily prayer times at Beth Jacob Congregation, one in the morning-- the shacharit (morning service)-- and one in the evening--combining the Mincha (afternoon) and Maariv (evening) services. A Minyan is the gathering of at least 10 men and any number of women who participate in a prayer service. In order to be able to say important portions of each service a Minyan is required. It has been difficult to convene a Minyan for many prayer services and this is the reason we are attempting this new method. If every member commits to just one service a week, we should have no more difficulties getting a minyan!

People have multiple reasons to attend a daily prayer service. Some of the foremost reasons are:
1. It is a Mitzvah.
2. A person in mourning goes to say Kaddish for a close relative who passed away. 3. A person goes to say Kaddish during the yearly Yahrzeit (remembrance) of a close relative who passed away.
4. A person goes to enable persons in mourning or persons who have a Yahrzeit to have a Minyan so they can say Kaddish in remembrance of their loved ones.

If you are able to give your time to attend any Minyan, please follow these instructions to sign up with ROBOGABBAI. WHILE THIS MAY APPEAR DIFFICULT, IT SHOULD TAKE ONLY FIVE MINUTES TO SET UP. We will be happy to assist you setting this up. Just call the Beth Jacob office at 274-2149 for assistance.

How to Sign Up with "Robogabbi":
1. Go to this web site:
http://www.robogabbai.com/minyan_users/new?minyan_id=38&codeword=minyan
(Click on the link. If you have trouble, you can type it in the address bar, or cut and paste it in your web browser.) It will open a new window, so you can come back and reference these instructions.

2. You will be asked to sign in. Before signing in, however, you will need to create a ROBOGABBAI account. Click on "SIGN UP FOR AN ACCOUNT HERE."

3. Please complete this page with information about you.

4. After this page is completed, you will be directed back to the "JOIN MINYAN' page. This page should already be filled in with the correct information. If not, the Minyan ID # is "38" and the code word is "minyan". Click on "JOIN" after confirming this is filled in correctly.

5. The next page is when you tell "ROBOGABBAI" how to ask you if you can make it to a Minyan, and whether you wish to be notified about how many persons are set up through ROBOGABBAI to attend the Minyan. For each service, please answer "YES" OR "NO" to "NOTIFY ME OF STATUS." (There is not a clear need for you to say "YES" to "NOTIFY ME OF STATUS" unless you desire to get the information of how many persons are currently set up through ROBOGABBAI to attend the service) If you know you will be able to attend any service regularly, then answer "YES" to "DEFAULT VALUE FOR WHETHER TO ATTEND." Otherwise, likely most persons, will choose "ASK ME" for the "DEFAULT VALUE FOR WHETHER TO ATTEND." If you know you will never be able to attend a specific service, then answer "NO" to "DEFAULT VALUE FOR WHETHER TO ATTEND." Please note you can change this set up at any time in the future.

6. The next page will show what you have chosen. If you wish to edit these choices, click on "EDIT" at the bottom of the page.

7. YOUR SET-UP IS NOW COMPLETED. CONGRATULATIONS!

8. Depending on how you set things up, please watch your email regularly, especially if you requested ROBOGABBAI to ask you whether or not you will be able to attend the service.

Again, we realize this setup may be complicated for some people. If you need assistance please contact the synagogue office, and we'll be happy to assist you. Please provide us with any constructive comments or suggestions about this service.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ASSISTING IN ANY WAY YOU CAN TO ENABLE OUR MINYAN TO TAKE PLACE!
